Accessibility Statement

We want Puglib to be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, larger text or higher contrast. This page says what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had the site independently audited, and we know some parts do not meet that level yet (see "Known limitations" below). We review new pages for accessibility before they go live and fix reported problems as quickly as we can.

What we have done

The dog food questionnaire and results work with a keyboard: every control can be reached with Tab and used with Enter or Space, and dialogs close with Esc.
Pages use headings, lists and labelled form fields, so screen readers can move through them in order.
Text can be enlarged with your browser's zoom, and the pages adapt to phones, tablets and computers.
Form errors are described in words, not only by colour.

The accessibility button

On most pages of the main site (not yet in the questionnaire or results), a blue button at the bottom left opens a small panel where you can make text bigger (Big, Bigger or Huge) or turn on a high contrast mode. Your browser's own zoom, contrast and reader settings work on every page and are usually more complete; the panel is an extra, not a replacement for them.

Known limitations

Some images in older articles and on the home page do not yet have text descriptions.
Some colour combinations, such as light text on photographs, may not have enough contrast.
The pages have no "Skip to content" link yet.
Ads on articles and guides come from Google, and we can't control how accessible they are.

We are working through these. If one of them stops you from using the site, please tell us and we will help directly.

We aim to reply within a few business days, and we can give you the information you need in another way in the meantime.
